On the 8th, Mayor Choi Min-ho of Sejong City met with Lao Ambassador H.E. Songkane Luangmuninthone at the city hall's reception room to engage in discussions and explore cooperation measures between the two countries' local governments.
This visit was arranged in response to a request from the embassy to understand Sejong City's urban vision, and intelligent city construction, and establish a foundation for intercity cooperation.
During the visit, Ambassador Songkane toured the Urban Integrated Information Center and Sejong Traditional Culture Experience Hall, where he received a briefing on the operating system for urban information management utilizing intelligent city technologies and had the opportunity to experience Korean traditional culture.
Ambassador Songkane expressed his full support for cooperation between Sejong City and Lao local governments, stating, "I hope to seize development opportunities through exchanges with Laos, a country with great growth potential."
Laos, situated in the heart of the Indochina Peninsula, is known for its geographical features, beautiful natural environment, and abundant water resources, and is recognized for its significant development potential, leveraging low export tariffs.
Sejong City is actively pursuing cooperative projects with Battambang Province in Cambodia, including firefighting vehicle support, training programs for public officials, and the provision of goods. Building upon the visit of the Lao Ambassador, plans are underway to promote exchanges and collaborative projects with the Lao local government.
Mayor Choi Min-ho stated, "We will continue to actively engage in exchanges with Laos and other ASEAN countries, sharing advanced models in administrative capital and intelligent city (smart city) construction, to transform into a global city."
