Organized by the Jeju Village Cultural Promotion Foundation (Director An Jeongeop - 안정업) and sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, this year's Seogwipo Cultural Heritage Night is differentiated from other regional cultural heritage events and focuses on unique myths, islands, and maritime cultural heritage.
One of the main programs of this cultural heritage night is the "Night Parade," divided into two themes: "Invitation of Jacheongbi". First, a total of 60 senior models from the Jeju branch of the SMA Senior Model Association (Director Hwang Yonghui - 황용희) will transform into Jeju's deities, supported by costume sponsorship from Jeonghee Fabrics (Representative O Jeonghui - 오정희). They plan to introduce myths, legends, and the worship of 18,000 gods to tourists and foreigners throughout the event.
In particular, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on the 23rd, under the theme "Festival of Gods", a parade will take place, featuring around 30 Jeju deities, ambassadors, and diplomats from 11 countries, the Chinese Chengdu Cultural Arts Troupe, and the Horizon Festival Committee, with a total of about 200 participants. The parade will travel from Cheonjiyeon Waterfall to Saebyeon Bridge. It will showcase the love story of Jacheongbi and Mudo-ryeong, as well as Jeju's mythical tales surrounding Jacheongbi and the Five Grains, incorporating performances by director Kim Ha-wol, including the Kwanggaeto Play, Daon Dance Company, Jeju Folk Arts Company, and Jeju Country Dance Association.
Furthermore, on Saeseom Island, various events will take place under the theme "Journey with the Gods" from 6:00 PM onward, including the signaling of myths, storytelling of Jeju deities, the tale of Jamsil-dang, and the stacking of wishing stones.
Regarding the "Sea Parade", a maritime tour to the realm of the gods will be available with two trips per day over the three-day period. The first trip, welcoming the night of the Gods, will depart at 6:30 PM, and the second trip, accompanied by the night of the Gods, will depart at 8:00 PM. This tour will feature encounters with Jang Kwang Pal (장광팔), who transforms into a dol hareubang (Jeju's traditional stone statue), and theatrical performances by Dok Go-rang (독고랑), as well as storytelling of Jeju myths, a spectacular sea performance by over 50 professional sea swimmers in the middle of the ocean, and an evening maritime tour to Jungbang Waterfall, Oedolgae Rock, Munseom, and Beomseom.
