4 videos promoting tourism in Korea released

Videos for promoting tourism in Korea were released on June 27 starring "Squid Game" actor Lee Jung-jae.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on the same day announced their joint campaign "Challenge Korea" for a successful Visit Korea Year 2023-24 and attraction of 30 million foreign tourists in 2027.

On its YouTube channel Imagine Your Korea, the KTO posted a video promoting Visit Korea Year as part of the campaign. As the honorary promotional ambassador of Visit Korea Year and tourism in Korea, the actor in the video challenges viewers to experience the dynamism and uniqueness of Korean culture. 

The titles of the four videos are "Dance Dance Dance," "Battle of K-Food," "Shooting Star" and "Hello Future."

The first shows the dance crew Just Jerk and choreographer Lia Kim jamming to music by played by Peggy Gou, a globally famous Korean DJ based in Germany. 

 

The second features leading regional cuisines such as Andong jjimdak (braised chicken with vegetables) from Andong, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, and tteokgalbi (grilled short-rib meat patties) as well as tourist spots popular among youth such as Gwangjang Market in Seoul and Chodang Soondubu (Soft Tofu) Village in Gangneung, Gangwon-do Province.

 

"Shooting Star" shows the latest tourism trends in Korea through a character who visits many places to post photos on social media, and "Hello Future" shows the country's future and urban landscapes in a style that stimulates the senses.

The videos will be screened from next month to October on electronic display boards at landmarks in 10 countries such Times Square of New York and the Shinjuku district of Tokyo. They will target millennials and Generation Z in 22 countries and be available on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and TikTok. 

 

HiKR Ground, a center in Seoul promoting domestic tourism, through July 2 is holding Challenge Korea Week on all of its floors. The Archive Zone on the third floor will display promotional videos from 2010-22 as well as the latest ads, and pop-up booths for domestic brands on the second to fifth floors will offer prizes for event participants.


KTO CEO Kim Jang-sil said, "Through this Challenge Korea campaign, we will strive to make the appeal of Korean culture, which resonates with people worldwide, lead to tangible K-Tourism."
