With the host of the Korea MICE Association (한국MICE협회) and the sponsorship from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (문화체육관광부) and Andong City, the event included theoretical education in the Incentive Tour Sector, which forms one of the pillars of the MICE industry, as well as programs to experience Andong tourism contents (facilities and infrastructure, cultural experiences, food, etc).
The lecture was held with various topics such as Incentive Tourism Marketing, Partnership Strategies and Trends. Speakers of this special activity were Rajeev Kohli (President), Huw Tuckett (Executive Director), and Victor Canizares (Board of EUROMIC), which has a DMC (Destination Management Company) network in 54 countries around the world, and other incentive experts were also invited as speakers to expand understanding of the incentive tourism industry from a global perspective.
Chairman Shin Hyun-dae (신현대) from the Korea MICE Association, stating his opinion, "The share and role of the MICE industry in the Korean economy, especially in the local economy, is growing.”. He further explained, “We will actively provide know-how related to MICE to revitalize the local economy”.
Director Oh Chang-won (오창원) from the Andong City Tourism and Culture Bureau, also expressed his thought, "The Andong International Convention Center, which celebrates its first year anniversary, will be the center of the MICE industry in Andong, the capital of Korean spiritual culture. We are actively seeking for the support of MICE officials so that Andong can develop into a major player of the global MICE industry in the future”.
Moreover, in this unique event, more than 100 officials from the Korea MICE Association joined the lectures as well as enjoyed various cultural experiences at the Andong International Convention Center and the Korean Culture Theme Park in Andong City.
Dr. Lee Sang-yeol (이상열), who gave a lecture on the theme of Incentive Travel Trend on this day, stressed, "The geographical specificity of Andong as a province is not a problem for the development of the Andong MICE industry. What is most important is that we must develop our content in order to gain people around the world admire, like WOW!”. Moreover, Mr. Rakhat Kobessov from EURAS TECH, who attended the training course for incentive tourism experts, remarked, " The kindness of the hosts and officials at this event made me deeply impressed. I felt like I discovered another aspect of Korea through Andong". Mr. Kang Dae-hoon (강대훈), CEO of Walkinto Korea, a global promotional media outlet, expressed his aspiration, “Andong's Confucian Heritage is at a world-class level, that is why strategic global marketing is remarkably needed to attract people from all over the world."
