On the 13th, the organizing committee of the 2027 FISU Summer World University Games in Chungcheong Province held a signboard ceremony to announce the official launch of the organizing committee at the secretariat of the Sejong City organizing committee.
At the event, about 100 people, including Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo (이장우), senior chairman of the organizing committee, Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho (최민호), Chungbuk Governor Kim Young-hwan (김영환), Chungcheongnam-do Governor Kim Tae-heum (김태흠), executive committee members, officials from related agencies, attended and pledged to hold the event successfully.
Officials at the event agreed to make the 2027 FISU Summer World University Games a successful example through close cooperation with the four cities and provinces, central ministries, sports councils, etc., as the event is being jointly held in the Chungcheong region.
The organizing committee received permission to establish a corporation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on June 30, established an office in Eojin-dong, Sejong City, and dispatched public officials from four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region starting in July to ensure smooth preparations, including establishing a basic plan for the Games.
Organizing Committee Vice Chairman Lee Chang-seop (이창섭) attended the executive committee of the International Federation of University Sports (FISU) in China in July and drew attention and expectations from executives in Chungcheong through a report on the progress of preparations for the competition.
In the future, the organizing committee will cooperate with the four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region and the central government to systematically prepare all matters necessary for the competition, including competition facility infrastructure, International University Sports Federation (FISU) cooperation projects, public relations, and marketing, as well as the volunteer work.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo, senior chairman of the organizing committee shared his aspirations, "We are happy to officially launch the organizing committee. As the competition is held in four cities and provinces, we will well prepare for the competition without any obstacles".
Meanwhile, the Chungcheong 2027 FISU Summer World University Competition will be held in August 2027 in Daejeon and Chungcheong area, with more than 15,000 participants from 150 countries.
