2019 Trilateral Culture and Tourism Ministers Meeting was held in Incheon, ROK from August 29 to 31, 2019. This year, the 11th Trilateral Culture Ministers’ Meeting (TCMM) and the 9th Trilateral Tourism Ministers’ Meeting (TTMM) were held in conjunction with each other. The TCS delegation led by Deputy Secretary-General KANG Do-ho attended the meetings.
The 9th Trilateral Tourism Ministers’ Meeting was presided by Mr. PARK Yangwoo, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, and attended by Mr. ISHII Keiichi, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, and Mr. LUO Shugang, Minister of Culture and Tourism of China. The meeting discussed ways to continue tourism cooperation between the three countries as well as to promote exchanges in the private sector. The Trilateral Tourism Industry Forum, Regional Tourism Linking Festival, Trilateral Tourism Networking Night, and Trilateral Tourism Future Generation Forum were held as side events to encourage exchanges between the travel industry, local governments and young generations of the three countries.
In his congratulatory speech during the Ministers’ meeting, DSG KANG Do-ho stressed that the domestic and international development of the three countries have greatly benefited from their good neighbors. Noting that the three countries have the world’s best aviation and shipping infrastructure and that people-to-people exchanges between the three countries surpassed 30 million last year, he reiterated that the future assets that the three neighboring countries should keep moving forward are unlimited even in today’s global age. DSG KANG underlined that tourism cooperation is an important area of trilateral cooperation to promote exchanges and friendship between the peoples of the three countries, thus creating a synergy effect in governmental cooperation. He concluded his speech by promising continued support from the TCS for promoting tourism cooperation among the three countries.
