This visit was arranged as part of the "2023 Korean Foundation Invitation Program for Prominent Figures in the Field of Public Administration" (2023 한국국제교류재단 정무분야 유력인사 초청사업) by the Korea Foundation for International Exchange.
During the meeting, Mayor Puljak expressed a great interest in the "smart city” which can solve various urban problems and create a sustainable city by incorporating new technologies such as information and communication technology (ICT) and big data. Further, Mayor Puljak proposed a partnership to solve urban problems such as traffic and parking by implementing Sejong's smart city system in Split. Meanwhile, Split City is a resort city located on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, known as the "Flower of Dalmatia," the country's second capital, and the oldest Roman ruins in Europe.
Mayor Choi Min-ho said that the policies related to smart cities that can be applied to Split City can be shared at any time, and Sejong City will actively support them. He added, "I hope that the two cities will continue to exchange and cooperate to solve urban problems together."
Before the meeting, Mayor Puljak also visited the City Integrated Information Center to inspect the Smart Safety City System, which effectively responds to various emergencies and crimes using artificial intelligence (AI) control systems.
