On the 26th, the delegation from the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games (2027 충청권 하계세계대학경기대회) Organizing Committee, led by Vice Chairman Lee Chang-seop (이창섭), visited the 2021 Chengdu Summer World University Games in China to conduct inspections.

The delegation from the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Organizing Committee") departed for China on the 28th to visit the 2021 Chengdu Summer World University Games, which is set to commence on the same day.

Led by Vice Chairman Lee Chang-seop, the delegation consists of members from the Organizing Committee and representatives from four provinces in the Chungcheong region. They are participating in the FISU (International University Sports Federation) Executive Committee meeting to observe the Chengdu Summer World University Games.

On the 26th, Vice Chairman Lee Chang-seop attended the FISU Executive Committee meeting, where he provided a progress report on the preparations for the Chungcheong Summer World University Games. The report included a history of the Organizing Committee's establishment, the budget for the event, achievements so far, and future plans. Lee expressed a strong commitment to diligently carry out the preparation process and requested FISU's interest and cooperation in organizing the Chungcheong Summer World University Games.

Starting from the 27th, the delegation will participate in the observer program of the Chengdu Summer World University Games. During this program, they will inspect various aspects of the event, including the Organizing Committee's structure, the welcoming ceremony for the delegation, the opening ceremony, the sports venues, and the athletes' village, all of which are essential preparations for hosting the Games.

Vice Chairman Lee Chang-seop stated, "Through a thorough inspection of the preparations for the Chengdu Summer World University Games, we will actively draw on leading examples that Chungcheong can benchmark". He added, "Through this inspection, we will ensure that the Chungcheong Summer World University Games is successfully held, and it will be a remarkable event that stands on par with any other university games."

South Korea representatives with FISU representatives

The Chengdu Summer World University Games, scheduled to take place from July 28th to August 8th, is expected to attract over 15,000 participants in 18 different sports. Originally planned for 2021, the Chengdu Summer World University Games had to be postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The delegation's visit to Chengdu represents a significant step in the preparations for the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games. It allows them to gain valuable insights and best practices from the ongoing event and ensures that they can deliver a successful and memorable Games in Chungcheong in 2027.
